Does anyone have any pointers as to where to start looking for the source of a machine lock up? It's a 2006 Mac Mini, running 10.6.8. When I say it locks up I mean keyboard and mouse lock up, can't ssh/vnc/remote desktop, if eye tv is playing it skips (like an old scratched cd). I don't get the Kernel Panic screen come up.

What would be the best place to look for problems? Any specific error logs? I've tried AHT which reports back fine. I've reinstalled Mac OS, swapped out the HD.

I had a similar situation with a mac mini and it turned out to be a bad stick of RAM. I am not sure how to diagnose this, all I did was trail and error, until I found the cause.

Did it occur in the same timespan (once a week/fortnight)? When I've had issues with memory before on a different machine it would occur daily. I'm tempted to just try swapping the ram anyway, as it now only costs £25 for a 2gb kit!
