Is there any downside to buying the $30 plan for 3GB of data and going overboard 2GB for an additional $20 in fees rather than just buying the $50 plan?

Seems like the $50 plan is redundant to me if not.

I'm new to some of this data plan stuff but if u do the 5GB for $50 can't you then tether to other devices?? That might be an advantage to just paying the $50.

Didn't even notice that, i'd definitely sign up for that before they notice and increase the 3gb overages

$50 plan has tethering included, so you can use your phone as a wifi hotspot. Other than that they are the same. $50 gets you 5GB on each plan.

Yeah but on the 3GB plan you can save $10-$20 so for someone like me who wouldn't need to tether from my iPad ever it's a better deal.

I had to bump to the higher phone plan so I didn't need a 4G iPad since I can just tether my phone for the same cost.

I agree. If tethering is not needed. $30 plan is the way to go. Even if tethering is needed $30 plan may still be the way to go if only occasional. You can add / remove the option as needed.

Double check the plans setup on prepaid data. They don't work like the post-paid plans.

As I recall, you pay for the block and it autorenews when you either hit 30 days or hit the data limit.

So let's say you use 1GB every 8 days. On a $30/3GB plan it'll renew when you hit the 3GB limit (in 24 days) then start the 3GB/30day counter again. Keep at it at the same rate and it'll kick over again; slow down and only use 1GB every 15 days and it'll renew after 30 days.

Does that help?
