Here is my problem.

I modify a pdf that is on my "Desktop". Save numerous versions. Then when I "revert to a version" it works properly.

Now if I get that same document and move it into my Dropbox and then try to "revert to a version" all the history is lost.

I'm trying to figure out how all of this works for forgive me if I'm missing something obvious. I'm doing this on my MacBook Pro which is not connected to a Time Machine.

Thx

Does dropbox automatically upload to the cloud? So the file doesn't stay on your hard drive?

I'm not sure, so this is just a guess, but the changes (versions) are kept on your hard drive, so the files in dropbox won't be able to access them.

No, the file stays on the HD and then syncs with Dropbox. When I pull up the file after I have saved it to Dropbox (from the dropbox folder). That is when I can't see any of my previous versions.

If I start creating new versions when the file is in dropbox everything works ok.
