First, I apologize if this is in the wrong location. This is my first time visiting here.

I have a canon i80 printer on my windows 7 machine that I'm trying to print to. After some time lurking here, I found that I needed CUPS drivers, so I downloaded canon's CUPS driver for the printer, but my MacBook didn't detect the driver. So I downloaded Gutenprint's latest drivers. After that, my laptop found not only the new Guten drivers, but the official Canon driver that I downloaded previously. When setting it up with the official driver, I was getting a "Hold: Authentication" error or some such. So I tried the Guten driver. That one printed, but the black text was stretched and printed with all three colors, making it barely readable. The Guten FAQ said this can happen if the driver is "experimental" for my listed printer, and it was. So I tried to switch back to the original driver, and now I'm not getting an authentication error, but it is stuck on the "sending print data" stage. Any suggestions?
