I just got a new wireless keyboard and the F4 function key has a icon of 6 squares and it doesn't do anything when i press it. what is it and how do i make it work?

What version of Mac OS X are you running? The F3 and F4 keys are for Mission Control and Launchpad, but those only work on Lion.
