Will 3g disappear after 4g ?

Hello, im just about to buy an iphone 4s but im still not sure if its the good thing to do.

Honestly i'm more than happy about what the Iphone offers todays, i dont care about a bigger screen or a new design, the only thing that worry me is the 4g LTE connectivity. Will i still be able to use 3g in 2 years from now?, as i dont planned to change my phone every year. Or will 3g simply disappears when 4g come ?

You have nothing to worry about. 3G isn't going away anytime soon.
 
You've got some time before 3G disappears - EDGE is still around for areas without 3G and as a fallback for those with 3G
 
The only country that know of that has even turned off edga was Japan which can make it tricky for some international travelers to us there phones.

As others have said it will be a long long time before 3g is turned off.
 
Nope. The decision to turn off 3G rests on the carriers. And the iPhone has to have backward compatibility for 3G or the carriers won't allow it. Simple.
 
Dont know, maybe i should wait for the Iphone 5 for 4G.
I dont have plenty of money so thats a bit of a decision to make.
What do you guys thinks about that ?

If you don't have $ then its obvious you shouldn't buy a $300+ phone (assuming you have a 2 year contract).

I'm sure you could live without an iPhone and then when you have enough $, buy it.

The "iPhone 5" has a really good chance of having 4G, the new iPad has it, why wouldnt it have it too?
 
I live in France actually, and they begin talking about 4g over here too.
I have enough money to buy an Iphone now, but not to change every 6 months

If i buy it, i will be unlocked, plus here we have plans with 2go data and 2h call for 15euros, without contract. So i am saving money on the plan.
