Can I backup from my iPad 2 and keep both separate?

I want to backup from my iPad 2 but im keeping it, and I want to keep both on the same computer. Once I backup to the new iPad will it have a separate profile? If not can I change it to be separate from the old iPad? I would rather not start fresh, since I want to keep my apps settings and game saves.

I guess what I am saying is...will backing up from my old ipad to the new iPad take over the iPad 2 profile? I don't want to transfer, or replace, just use the old backup to create a new one and keep both.
 
When I setup my iPad Friday afternoon, I restored from a backup of my iPad 2.

I believe the backups are kept separate by serial number.

I backup to iCloud and have backed up both since the restore and it appears it is keeping them separate.

Cool, thanks guys! Seperated by serial number, thats great, it sounds like the exact way I want to keep things. Backup time!
