I'm having problems with my iPad 2 and the microphone it's creates a lot of static whenever I playback any audio recorded on it and is extremely static filled if i'm on FaceTime unless my headset is in. I want to schedule a genius appointment to get it fixed, but i'm afraid of getting an iPad with 5.1 on it.

If Apple were to replace my iPad could I request one with 5.01 or iOS 5? I'm not really concerned if they know I want it for jailbreak purposes, I just want to know if anyone has ever been able to ask for a device with older firmware.

Also, not to be rude, but please no high horse jail breaking is bad posts. I don't care about your opinion or Apples opinion on it.Thank you.

They will not give you a choice. If they replace your iPad, they will give you a refurb in a plain box and it will either have 5 or 5.1 but they will not give you a choice.

No "high horse" here:)
