Print and Share works for me with HP Lasejet printers attached directly to the network your IOS device is on. I have not gotten it to work with printers attached through another computer nor with networked Sharp branded printers.

Google has something called Google Cloud Print. I am going to investigate that.

I bought an hp1536, partly for the AirPrint feature.

Didn't work, took me a week to figure out that he firmware it shipped with didn't support AirPrint (!) despite that being an advertised feature, and I had to update the firmware. Duh.

So, maybe your hp just needs some TLC.

This is my printer My Hp printer name*
*Hp photo smart c4795 all in one printer wireless*
Would it work with any app?

AirPrint Activator requires you to leave a computer running. Mprint N Share prints to WiFi printer directly from iPad. I've yet to find a printer it doesn't support.

That's just not true. I just printed an email using Airprint Activator from my iPad and my Mac Mini's been in sleep mode all day. All you have to do is set "wake on network access" = on in Energy Saver settings. Airprint Activator is free and works quite well with iPad 3.

Ok I'll amend...AirPrint Activator requires a computer to be available as a bridge to your printer. Print N Share can print to your printer directly from your iPad.

Happy now?

Happy :). I didn't mean to come across as a know-it-all or insulting, so sorry if I did.

I'll have to check out Fingerprint for my Brother laser printer. I have an Epson ink jet printer that has their own printer software which works pretty good the few times I have needed to print something.

Brother just put out a free app that allows you to print on most if not all of their wifi printers. It's slick and I use it with mine. I think other printer companies are offering similar apps. Check the app store.

Damn, my 2170 isn't on the list of supported printers! :(

Don't go by the brother list of printers. Mine wasn't on the list and it worked perfectly. Just download the free app and try. It'll probably work. O

Tried it and it couldn't find my printer. I'll check to see if perhaps there is a newer version of firmware out that I need - worth a shot.
