Booting problem

I have a 2006 MacBook Pro running Lion. Just recently when I go to boot it up it comes on chimes grey screen with Apple and load line at bottom and spinning circle (not color ball). Stays on for about 20 secs and cuts off by itself. Can anyone help me with this.
