While I know the LCD in the Air is not as capable as some other good screens out there in color gamut, I believe I can still better the calibration. That is, after I went looking though these forums and finding color profiles others had made, I found that with some, the colors of my display began to look very good. Though being that no two displays are alike, I could not find one with everything corrected. Some of the best I tired were made using Spyder Pro (of which I don't plan to purchase.) It would just not have the white's level (either blue or red tint) correct.

I have tried calibrating a few times with the built in os x calibrator, each time with slightly different results, but each time it seems to give a noticeable blue tent. Some times with a hint of red (and thus overall slight purple tint.) I even tried SuperCal, same result. Actually worse the past two times I tried it. Really, it's like both are limiting green.

Any tips on how to better do this, or are these software calibrators simply not nearly as accurate as with hardware (like the Spyder)?

The default color profile on the Air is ok, but it is more washed out than what I know the display can do. Also, if it is worth mentioning, I find it impossible to replicate that profile with the two calibrators mentioned. That is, the default doesn't have a dominant color tent.
