I have an Iomega HD, been using it for years, its on and hums, but no where to be seen. Nothing in finder, or desktop. Tried clean up.

Preferences, external hd, check.

I have verified it in disk utility - appears to be Ok
I have repaired in disk utility - appears to be Ok

Its grayed out, but lets me mount in disk utility. Asks me to try repairing and try again. Nothing.

Tried this below. No luck.

Anyone help me out?

Do you have data on the "invisible" drive that is not replaceable?

Or, can you risk re-initializing the drive and "starting over"?

Another thought:
Download one of the file recovery application demos, such as:
- Data Rescue 3
- Nice To Recover
- Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery
- Disk Drill

In "demo mode", these should be able to examine the problem disk. What do they show you?
