I have an iMac G3 with a Harmoni G3 upgrade card that I upgraded to Tiger and it's now having kernel_task use 90% of the cpu. I installed Tiger on its drive in a Quicksilver machine and upgraded to 10.4.11 on that box also. Was upgrading on the other machine the mistake? Also deleted the kext caches and that didn't help.

Thanks for any ideas, since it's a little awkward to upgrade this machine with no DVD drive.

FYI in case anyone else has one of this cards and lands on this post. I upgraded to 10.4.11 on the iMac (no improvement) so I removed all the IO*firewire* kexts from the extensions folder. The computer runs fairly well now and I'm happy with the performance.

If anyone knows of generic firewire kexts to try I'd appreciate it.
