Auto-Lock while in use

Hello, my mom who I gifted a new iPad to has complained that the iPad locks while she is watching a netflix movie or while she is on a video call using Skype. Is this normal behavior? Any way to stop it besides setting auto-lock to never?

Set the Auto Lock to a higher minute (e.g., the one right above Never). Otherwise she'll have to touch the screen every once in a while.
 
Mine locks after the the show on netflix is over I think...never had it lock on me mid-movie
