Well I've never really used a forum but this looked like the right place to post this question. I got a Sony hd video camera bout a year or so ago and have been so fed up using a windows computer that can't even play the video just chop chop chop. So makes editing nearly impossible. I have heard Mac is the way to go for video editing but I'm not sure which iMac would suit my needs. Processor, ssd or not, video card etc. It will be for somewhat big use at times but not doing some 20 hour documentary. Is the base model a good choice or do I really need the full every upgrade model. Thanks any advice would help.

Ps. Would going with a older dual core iMac be a good cheap option? Will strictly be used for occasional hd video editing no gaming, no Internet nothing.

The base model will likely work fine for you.

Wow quick response haha thanks! Just every time I go to my local apple store nobody there knows about hd video editing so they just tell me to buy the fastest one with all the upgrades. Seems over kill to me sure it is fast but the price for what it will be used for and ammount it will be used is pretty steep. Well over $3000 ouch
