iPad iPad use the 4620L NMEA data?

Does anyone know if an iPad WiFi will be able to use the new Novatel's 4260L MiFi GPS capability (I believe its sends NMEA wireless GPS stream). Also, will any GPS application be able to use the NMEA stream, like Garmin or CoPilot applications, or do the apps have to be written specifically for the NMEA dat stream.
