I have a 15" Macbook Pro 2,5GHZ, 4GB from 2008 and have just run into a severe problem: The computer is completely dead and I assume that it is the issue with the Nvidia graphics chip.
After opening the laptop the screen remained black (but the laptop was still working), then after a forced shutdown it is now completely dead: when pressing the power button the light comes on for 1-2 seconds and the disc can be heard before it goes quite again - keyboad and screen stay dark at all times. After searching the forum I assume that it is the Nvidia problem, but as I`m currently living in spain the local dealer only suggests a logic board replacement for around 650,- EUR - Reading the past posts it seems that this is a common problem that is usually resolved by Apple.
Any suggestions on how to proceed ?
