I just noticed that, maybe after changing the language settings, a small simple lock appeared on the top middle of the iPad display. What does it mean ? Thanks.
 
Go to Settings -> General and see if the switch on the side of the iPad is set to mute or to lock the screen orientation. Generally the lock icon appears on the screen when the switch is activated, to let you know the orientation of the device is locked (meaning the screen won't adjust if you tilt the device to different angles).
 
It was not orientation locked. Bah, who knows, now it just disappeared
