Anyone familiar with Airplayit

I heard that with Airplayit you can pretty much store your movies on a computer and Airplayit iOS app will give you the ability to stream it. When I download it and follow the directions in my MacBook pro I can't get the server to connect. Ever heard of this & what's the fix?
