I'm not sure what cables I need to connect a current model MacbookPro to an ageing non-HD tv (so's I can view some mp4 video files).
I've read a variety of seemingly conflicting info about digital and analog signals and whether some adapters or Macbooks may not support audio through the mini display port.
I thought that if I buy a mini-dp to hdmi adapter I can then then use the hdmi to RCA cable from our Panasonic Digital videocam. But I've read that I instead might need a mini-dp to vga adapter and vga to rca cable.
The tv also has a s-vhs input, which apparently offers a slight improvement in quality, so I'm wondering if that's a better option.
And, with these, is the sound carried or do I need to connnect the headphone sockets on the Macbook and tv?
