Is there a free unlock without having to restore that is for iPhone 3GS IOS 5.0.1 baseband 05.16.50? The iPhone is also a new bootrom and SAM was recently blocked.. anyone? Please help.

And if its a newer model 3GS you might not even be able to install the ipad baseband to unlock.

Give me the first 5 number of your iphones serial number to see if your phone can even have the ipad baseband installed in order to unlock.
Bad news.
Your iphone 3GS cannot be unlocked not even with the ipad baseband.
If you try installing the ipad bb to unlock it you will fry the radios in it and cause permanent damage to the cellular,wifi and bluetooth chips.
The first 5 digits of your iPhone 3GS serial number, must be lower xx127, any higher than that is no good.
-xx can be any number or letter.
-1 is the year of 2011.
-27 is the week of device made.
Yours was made past the week 27 of 2011. Yours is the 1st week of 2012.

Maybe you can help me. I hope! I had my 3gs unlocked and it seemed to be acting odd so I tried to restore it and I cannot get it back to unlocked. Only thing I can get it working on is 4.1 but its on baseband 6.15.00. Its jailbroke but constantly searching for a signal and doesnt ever get on tmobile since May. Serial # is 850296. Thats an old one correst? I got it Oct 2010. Can you offer me any steps to get this fixed.

Yes, yours is the old one and you're fine with the ipad bb.
Did you install ultrasnow from cydia in order to unlock?
You can use redsnow to downgrade the baseband down and then unlock it again.
have you tried contacting the carrier if it's out of contract they might unlock it even AT&T is doing it now.
