Do you ever shut your phone off and then back on? I know some that never do and some friends power off then on daily. Opinions ? Does it need "reset" every now and then?

I have once just to see if I had the issue of the 4S not shutting off.

I turn mine off friday night when i go to sleep. I also turn it off when im in a plane.

This question is tough to answer because the way the responses are written it seems a reboot is synonymous with "shut off". If we are talking reboots I have a hard time believing that so many people have NEVER reboot their phone since they got it (unless they had it for a very short time).

I turn it off on days I just want to be left alone by the world. :p

The way the question was worded, I took it as a reboot. "Never ever" also could have been written a little more realistic.

I also very rarely turn mine off. Reboot, is almost never. I have seen a very rare occasion where my 3G is acting flakey and a reboot seems fix it.

Only when I'm having trouble with it. Aside from this week's update, mine probably hasn't been rebooted for a few months.

The network becomes sometimes weirdly clogged...

Messages don't update, nor Facebook, or word for friends or flip book. A reboot will generally bring this back. Tends to only happen in certain parts of town, and in certain types of phone operations... Rebooting often "fixes" it.

I used to do it often.. not sure why, but I did. Now that I'm on a tethered JB I pretty much never do it though!

Wirelessly posted

It's almost pointless to do with an iPhone unless there's already a problem identified. Most people are just paranoid.

I never keep my phone off, but I restart it once a week (or so).

It's a practice I learned while working for Apple; helps keep the Gremlins at bay. :)

Every morning. I plug the phone in overnight, turn it off when I wake up (while it's still plugged in), turn it back on when I'm ready to leave the house for work. It's a habit from having android phones, but I know for a fact it holds the 100% showing on the battery indicator for a longer period of time. I also close out all apps in the multitasking tray every day before turning it off. I know this is a long explanation, the process probably isn't totally necessary, but it's really fast and easy to do, and I swear it helps battery life quite a bit.

you could just put it in airplane mode over night. that helps battery life and saves a bit of time

I also put mine into airplane mode each night so that I'm not awakened by calls, texts, etc. The stock alarm wakens me in the morning. Then, after turning off airplane mode, I will usually power it down, then turn it back on, just to allow it a fresh reboot each morning.

I like this idea, but I don't have a landline at home, and I like to keep the phone available to ring overnight if someone in the family has an emergency or something.

I reboot it every now and again but never tun it off unless I'm flying.

Sometimes I will ignore it for a whole day if I'm after some peace and quiet but it's still on.

Mine stays on except for when rebooting. It's on even while flying, just has Airplane Mode on... :D
