Unless you go 8 core, it doesn't get much faster than that. Or you could wait and see what Apple/Intel have in mind for us.

I guess it depends on what you aren't happy with. If you aren't happy with the CPU speed, then the quad core Mac Pro could actually be a step down from your iMac. However, if you aren't happy with the GPU (i.e. gaming) then the quad core would be fine.

So what is it that makes you unhappy with your iMac?

Buy a quad core and if you know your way around computer components you should pick up a 6-core 3.33 GHz processor and replace the stock quad. There is an extensive thread somewhere in this forum with the exact step-by-step install. I did it and my system flies. I sold my quad core processor to make some money back.
I highly suggest installing a solid state drive for your boot volume, it increases speeds dramatically. Get some cheap RAM from OWC and you'll be all set with a great system.

Yeah I'm going to bet s/he lives in Australia since s/he linked to an Australian retailer.....

The powers of observation are strong with this one....

Luckily Provantage only adds a few extra dollars for international shipping, still resulting in a good price.

thanks for that how much did you get for your quad core that you sold ?
and OWC is really good bought my 16Gb Ram from there

If I remember correctly, I believe I sold my quad core for around $175. I was pretty happy to get at least $150 for a used processor.
