Renaming network shares in Finder

Is there any way to change the alias name of a mounted SMB share? I found a thread on these forums from 2006 and figured it would be best to not necro it but it explains my exact problem: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/249716/

Anyone know if there is a way to fix it now? I tried manually giving it a mount point but the name on the desktop and in finder still just shows the share name and I connect to two different servers that have the same share name.

So, anyone have any ideas?

In case anyone is interested I found something that "fixed" this for me. I mount the remote share to a custom mount point (using the server name) and then display the full POSIX path in the finder title bar.

Now the title bar always shows the server name in it so I'll know which one is which.
