This will sound stupid and unimportant which, in all fairness, likely is.

I have my dock set to auto hide. When I have an iCal event coming up, the calendar icon jumps up from the dock into the visible screen area and back down. Almost like it is jumping up and down to alert me. Why doesn't Mail do that?

Thanks!

I DO realize how stupid this request is. But with no input on this, I'm beginning to wonder if I am losing my mind and the iCal icon never jumped up.

You can use the built in Rules in Mail to make a rule that will bounce for each mail that comes in. Go to Prefs in Mail and Rules and setup a rule like in my screen shot. Name it whatever you want.

It won't bounce, but the free Mail plugin Herald will give you a nice popup when you receive a new mail message.
