I just installed a new drive and carbon copy cloned it. I read a lot up on it and it seemed to be the best way. The new drive seems amazing besides for booting.
Old drive was the stock 5200rpm 500gb drive that came with me late 2011 low end macbook pro. It clocks in at about a 50 second boot. The new drive clocked in at about a 46 second boot after like 8 reboots. I have the 7200 RPM Momentus XT hybrid drive. The odd thing about this is that I see other people booting much faster with the drive.
I seem to be handing at the white screen during the chimes. I actually got my boot time from chimes to wallpaper to 26.1 seconds by holding down alt and pressing return when the drive select came up.
Any clue why I am hanging on the white screen before that apple? Thanks!
