If you could have just one upgrade on the new Air, besides IvyBridge obviously, what would it be?

For me it would be an optional 8GB of RAM, I run VM's often.

I would like the size of the 13" MBA to be similar to the size of the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook. It's got a 13.3" screen but the body of a 12" laptop, with a footprint that's closer to the 11" MBA.

I agree, but I'd also like a higher resolution. It doesn't necessarily need to be a "Retina Display," but I'd like something a bit higher than 1366x768.

I'd like to see a slimmer display frame on the 11" model. And I think that it could be reduced in size (width-wise) just by a little bit while retaining the full-size keyboard.

Well the 13" Air already has a resolution of 1440x900. They could go a bit higher, maybe 1080p, but you would probably want some UI scaling at that pixel density to make it usable.

As others have said I think more RAM as standard or optional would be really nice, especially since that isn't something you can upgrade later.

An 11" with the 13"'s resolution would be sweet.

I think the current res of 1440x900 is perfect for a 13.3" screen.

Significantly better graphics.

I regularly use about 3gb of Ram, and 8gb would be nice, but not essential.

Processing power now is good for most things.

Screen resolution is also good, yes retina would be better, but currently its good.

The thing that I would notice must, is graphics.

8GB RAM a must

Even better would be the option to go to 16GB...I run that on my current Pro (which is why I have the Pro vs. Air).

Extra + have RAM user upgradable (4 or 8gb onboard with one expansion slot?)

Usb3 !

Reason being?

I didnt upgrade from my 2010 MBA11 to an i5/7 model, because I refused to pay for such a machine without it. My biggest issue is storage, and whilst I'd like to have 500Gb or even 1tb in an MBA11, it would be cost prohibitive.

I can easily continue to live with the screen size, battery life, and even 4GB RAM, but fast and inexpensive storage is a must.

All other improvements for me are "would be nice"...

Acer is making an 11.6" Zenbook with a 1920x1080 screen. That might be doable with UI scaling. Or perhaps they could just do 1600x900, but I do want a higher resolution on the 11.6" model.

7-8 hour (or more) battery life. That's absolutely #1 for me. Then maybe drop the SSD price so I can get a 256GB MBA for $1,199.

Hey. i have an idea. How about Siri in Macbook Air? it might be possible since apple's integrating ios functionality into mac osx mountain lion.

To be honest, I don't really need more CPU or GPU power (though of course it's always welcome).

Longer battery life is always a plus too.

USB 3.0 isn't a big deal to me, since I seldom use any USB devices, nor even own a USB 3.0 device.

HD FaceTime camera would be nice, but I don't FaceTime all that often anymore.

SATA III SSD will of course be awesome, which I expect to see (I'm pretty sure the current ones are only SATA II?)

If I had to pick anything, it would be the foot print. My 2009 Sony Z was smaller in length and width, and had a 13.3in screen with a higher resolution. I miss that. It was close to the size of the 11in MBA. It also had a dedicated GPU and carbon fiber lid. MmmMmmm

If they could just fit the 13.3in screen into the 11in chassis, I would legitimately run into an Apple store saying 'shutup and take my money' :)

EDIT - A close second would be 8GB of RAM. Duh! How could I forget that.

USB 3.0 is really all I need. USB 2.0 is pretty obsolete these days (in terms of tech).

I personally won't be upgrading my 2011 13" MBA, I am going to buy the new iMac on monday. But if I was in the market for a MacBook Air, I would want a RAM boost most. An improved display would be good but, honestly, the current display on the 13" MBA is incredible.

Entry level 11" with 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, 1600x900 resolution (or 1080p), SD slot, 7-8 hours battery life for $999.

I will buy any 11" regardless the basic configuration, but this is what I hope to find in this update.

.
Yep. Gimme a smaller footprint on the 13" model and I'll be happy to make a purchase.
