Currently I have an Early 2008 iMac (2.66 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB ram, ATI Radeon 2600 PRO) and a Late 2007 Macbook (2.2 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GB Ram, Intel GMA X3100 Integrated.)
I am looking at replacing my Macbook because I think it's hitting the end of it's life for me. Still works superb, but not for all that I want it to do. My Macbook goes with me nearly everywhere. So I'd like to find a new replacement for it.
One thing I would like to be able to do is video editing with it. I still use Final Cut 6.6 (why fix what ain't broke) and edit HD video with it. My Macbook can't handle the HD video (handles SD video superbly) so that's part of the problem. If I'm spending $1000+ on a new laptop, I want it to be able to handle the video. I'm not talking 3D or anything fancy, simple cuts so when I have a break at work I can do some quick editing or fine tuning of current projects.
Would the 13" Macbook Pro be able to handle it? My iMac has no problem with the video, I'm just trying to figure out how much better, if any, the i5 with integrated graphics would be compared to Core 2 Duo with ATI Radeon 2600 Pro.
There are two reason's the 15 inch isn't for me....the extra money and I would need a new bag for work (which I LOVE the one I have and by measurement the 15" won't fit in the pocket for a notebook computer.
Personally, I'd love to just go with the 13" Air, but that's probably not even a realistic option. I would say 90% of the laptops usage will just be everyday internet, documents, etc. I use my Macbook like many use a tablet.
Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
