If you could choose any computer from Apple's lineup, and use any custom order options that you wanted, what would you choose? Ignore the cost factor. Just think about what computer would best work for you/what you'd enjoy the most.
You can also include other accessories you'd use for the new setup.

I would take the high end version of the 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display. 2.7HGz upgrade, 16GB RAM upgrade, 768GB SSD upgrade. I'd also take 2 Thunderbolt Displays for both sides of my desk.


on a side note: I feel like it might be nice to have an "Apple computers - general" forum, or something of that sort.

Lets see....
for a powerhouse, the last-gen 17" with 2.5ghz i7, 512gb SSD, and 16gb of RAM, with 1 thunderbolt monitor for inside use.

For showing off, a new RMBP with 768gb SSD, 2.7ghz i7, 16gb of RAM and a thunderbolt monitor

To annoy the eco friendly, a Mac Pro with 12 core 3.06ghz Xeon, 2 optical drives, 4x 1tb aftermarket SSDs, highest graphics card available, and 128gb aftermarket RAM.

Mmmm. High end Macbook Pro Retina with 2.7GHz, 16GB of RAM and 768gb SSD. I'd also include a superdrive, gigabit ethernet adaptor, VGA adaptor, a 2TB Time Capsule and AppleCare.
 
I think my dream setup right now would be a Retina 15" MBP (model doesn't really matter, but lets say 2.6Ghz, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM) plus a Thunderbolt display.

Portable powerhouse that you can dock at your desk with two cables.
 
Tough call. If a matte thunderbolt display existed, probably the thunderbolt display plus retina mbp. But it doesn't, so... uhm... Probably one of the 15" MBPs with the hi-res matte screen, but the sad thing is, it wouldn't be much of an upgrade for me personally over my 2010 MBP. Better video hardware, but fewer ports and expansion options. :(
 
I love what I bought now. I think it's 95% perfect.

15-inch MacBook Pro
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM -2x4GB (upgrading this to 16GB eventually)
750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive (upgrading this to a SSD eventually)
Nvidia Geforce GT 650m 1gB vRam
MBP 15" HR Antiglare WS Dspl

The only thing I would change there is 1080p display instead of a 1050p display
