hello guys (and girls), I'm a long time mac user, I'm a musician and voice over actor and I recently (yesterday) purchased a 2011 MBA 11" from a fellow forumite fro, the marketplace (nice guy, and smooth transaction. Haven't gotten the machine yet, but I feel it's a straight up, good deal).

it's a 128gb/i5/4gb ram machine and I need some directions on somethings from you guys:

1) 128gb is not enough space, so I'm going to buy a small external drive to have my music library, iphoto library and running some heavy programs like Logic. Which one you guys recommend that's less than 100 bucks?

2) I want to create a partition and have one side as pure storage and the other one install iphoto and Logic. HOW to do this last one?

thank you guys, really appreciate this.

Here's a link to a 750GB Western Digital Passport drive for $92.

For $107, you can get 1TB.

But since you asked for less than $100... :D

Why do you want to partition? The less partitions the better, easier to manage. You can install the apps on the MBA and use the external drive as storage. I guess I am not understanding your second question.

thank you for those links. :D

Now, what I mean is, I'll install the app on the machine, but how can I handle the library (iphoto for example) from the external drive? I've never done it, so maybe it's a very simple step but I'm a noob at this. Same thing with iTunes, how can I have the library on an external drive?

Ahhh, got it. Yes, you can have your iTunes library reside entirely on the external drive, or split (like music on your MBA and videos on the external drive) with a little more work.

The iPhoto library is one big file you can move.
