*I currently own a late 2007 iMac*

Since the release of the RMBP, craigslist is overflowing with used MBP 15's with Apple Care until June or 2015 for 1500 dollars. Im debating on that or a new MBA 13 2.0 with 256GB HD and 8GB 1812 with Apple Care.

I do not travel much, but I will be taking the mac to school some days so I do not need crazy portability.

My uses will consist of surfing web, Aperture, Garageband(Logic soon), Word, Excel, Emulators (nes,snes,genesis,ps1,ps2,n64)

I do also have a good bit of media, 80GB in music alone.

MBP 15 PROS
  1. Bigger screen
  2. 750 HD with option of opitibay SSD
  3. Quad Core
  4. Dedicated GPU
  5. Cheaper

MBA 13 PROS
  1. Slim and Sexy
  2. Faster SSD
  3. Lighter and more portable

Any Input is welcome, Please help.

Thank You

Personally, It's a no brainer - MBP15... SSD is nice, but you can always buy one separate and for way less + dedicated GPU... This is also dependent you get a lightly used one from CL...

Thanks for the input. That is the way I am leaning towards, just wish it had the usb 3.0 but that is not a huge deal.

Apeture and GarageBand/Logic can use all the screen size they can get, and unless you're thinking of the ATD, you might as well get a refurb 15-incher.

Hell, an MBP with an ATD would be even better :p

Apple store has 15" late 2011 refurb model for $1359! Go for the new one instead of an used one :)

You mean go for the refurb one over a used one?

The USED one I found on craigslist is a late 2011 with 2.4 quad, 4GB of ram and 750HD, also comes with some software like MS office and It has apple care until October 2014. For me to buy that refurbished would be 1900 with apple care. Thats why I have been going more for used at the moment.
