Something like that. Less DB drop = better. Things get crazy with the amplified ones, so I'd say passive.
Try to avoid stacking splitters, as each time you do, you introduce more signal loss. So if you have a multi-way tap in the home somewhere, see if one has a lower DB drop - and split off of that one.
