I upgraded from iPad 2 wifi to new ipad 3G - and the battery life doesn't seem to be as good.

I'm wondering if it's got to do with the cydia installs that I transferred from my old iPad? maybe not so compatible with the new ipad. Here is the list.

if it's none of the above - can i just expect 3G to drain the battery faster than wifi?

I don't see any particularly battery killing apps/tweaks.

But yes, 3G will cut your battery life by an hour at minimum, usually more.

Since you are newly jailbroken , erasing all content and settings before performing the jailbreak is known to fix problems.

Edit: I just noticed f.lux, that can cause battery loss, but nothing too severe. Oh, and you say you "transferred" the tweaks from your original iPad, do you mean you use aptbackup or pkgbackup to do it? Those can also cause problems. It's really best to individually install each tweak, it may take a while, but you've only got to do it once.

The new iPad (iPad 3) battery does not last as long as the iPad 2 before it needs charging again. This is because of the retina screen. Make sure your screen brightness is turned down to half. Screen brightness is the biggest battery killer. You will be surprised at how turning the brightness down saves on battery, I was shocked.

Also, it would have been a good idea to do a fresh install, especially as you're jailbroken.

One more thing, you have a LOT of Cydia app/tweaks there  :D The more you have, the more you'll drain the battery. That applies even if the tweaks are not known battery killers. Try and minimize some if you can.

Look at iPad 3 battery saving tips on Google. Things like, turning off notifications, bluetooth, wifi (if you use 3G). Things like that, there are more.

Basically...

#1 Turn screen brightness to half
#2 Follow battery saving tips you find on Google
#3 Minimize Cydia app/tweaks
#4 Do a fresh install (if all else fails)

Remember, the iPad 3 battery is NOT the same as the iPad 2 ;)
