Hi All,

Planning to buy Crucial - CT512M4SSD2CCA 512 GB Internal Solid State Drive.

Is it compatible with MacBook Pro 15" Late 2011 model ?

It will work however the write performance is incredibly lacking at only 95mb/sec it's barely faster than a 7200 rpm HDD.

I got a early 2011 MacBook pro with the crucial m4 512gb and my write speeds are around 260mb /s and read speeds are around 500 mb/s.

Must be a mistake with amazon or the one in the uk is different to the usa model.

Whoa, that's horrible! Better to get a Samsung 830! Cheaper and much faster!

I have an early 2011 MBP and I average:

Write: 269.3 MB/s
Read: 511.6 MB/s

Trust me, this SSD is worth the upgrade and price. I would never go back to a mechanical drive.

With 128GB, all I get is 210mbps write and 510 write.

But I dont know why the other guy stated 95mbps with 512GB SSD.

What are you smoking?

These SSD's do about 400MB/sec for read and write.

That's normal. Reading should be around 500MB.

Writing is usually slower than reading. Always.

When averaged together, it's about that much. I get around 300MB write with the Samsung 830.

Samsung is faster and people say more reliable but its also more expensive. I just bought the 512gb M4 since it was only $351. I doubt you could find the samsung for that price.

Samsung is faster.
But M4 has the most reliability over any SSDs in MBPs.
Its more stable and compatible.

And what kind of proof do you have to back that up? Both, Samsung 830 and Crucial m4, are very stable at the moment.

The 64GB model used to have 415MB/s read and 95MB/s write before the FW0009 firmware. Amazon most likely used the same description for all capacities and didn't bother to update them after new firmwares.

64Gb version of the same drive is indeed slow on writing at 95Mb/s. 512Gb however is 260Mb/s according to Crucial.

Samsung rep? Not hardly, just have good experience with them. The 512GB 830 SSD is 500 read and 420 write.
