hi. have a new imac and new asus router. works fine wirelessly, but cannot for the life of me get it to connect with an ethernet cable. my experience, with pc, is that you plug the damn wire in and it works! have tried three different wires, different jacks in the router... any help would be appreciated. yes the wireless works fine, but a cable connection is much faster.

Try messing around with the settings in System Preferences>Network

Make sure Ethernet is selected as your preferred method of connecting to the Internet.
