My wife is an elementary school teacher, and her birthday is coming up. I want to get her an iPad 3 and get the gift card offer. How can I do this without her knowledge? How do they know you are associated with education? Can I go to the Apple Store and pick up an order on her behalf? Thank you!

Do it online it's easier. Go to the apple.com store, enter in the school district. Select an iPad and gift card will be attached. They will ship you a $50 gift card.

If not then you need to show her id and explain to them what you want to do. Maybe bring along a check stub to show that both reside in the same home.

or ask one of her co-workers to help you.

I've only had a problem one time in store, but it was solve. I tried getting Adobe CS4 Ed. version. The salesman said I needed to show id. I asked why when I had to show proof online to register it? He left me buy it. At that time I forgot my id.
