I'm considering upgrading my MBP 13" (2010) to the latest MBP 13" (2012). I have a few quick questions:

  1. Going from a C2D processor to a Core-i7, how much of a boost can I expect from this? (50%, 100%, 200%) I envision it to be a dramatic boost but would like some empirical evidence as well.
  2. Has anyone swapped in an opti-bay caddy to replace the optical drive in the new MBP13?
  3. What speed does the SATA connection for the DVD-drive work off of?

Thanks in advance!

A quick search on Geekbench gives a 2010 13" MBP (2.4GHz) a score of 3818.

An equally quick search gives a 2012 13" MBP (i5 model) a score of 7295 and the i7 model 8626.

Geekbench is typically dependant solely upon the CPU, so fairly representative.

Cool, thanks for the info. That helps in my decision for upgrading now. :D

Should be SATA3 in both HD/SSD and Superdrive bays but I could be wrong.

I already think my 2010 MBP with SSD is fast, the 2012s must be mind blowing. Have fun!
