optical drive problem

Guys, I have a core 2 duo iMac, it has been working for 2 years, until recently i noticed the noise coming out of the optical drive. it keeps making the sound which it sounds like it is about to eject the disc (there is no disc in it).

Has anyone ever had the same problem? What's the solution for this?
