Hi Guys,
Recently bought myself a second hand iphone 4 off ebay cheap that the guy claimed had software issues with the camera. He said that the stock camera app never worked but if he used a third party one from the appstore it would. However when i received it, the camera was working fine off the stock app, I even took a few photos, although the flash didnt seem to work. However after playing with the phone for a while i realised that it was actually the front facing camera (facetime camera) that didnt work.
I took the phone apart and sure enough the little component at the top of the motherboard was missing (see image)
So seeing this i decided to try and bridge the connection to make it work. On the forums people were all using "Caig CW100P Circuit Writer Conductive Ink Pen" to make this bridge or jumper as they call it. I didnt want to spend out loads so ended up going to my local electronics store and buying and using this stuff - http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Equipment/Conductive-Silver-Leitsilber-L100-3g-87-0781 to make the jumper/bridge. However this didn't solve the problem and the front facing camera still didnt work, even after leaving it to dry for 24 hours. I scraped away the stuff from the board and tried again another couple of times. However, after the second or third attempt, now both the front and back cameras dont bloody work. Seeing as the flash on the back camera didnt work originally i thought maybe the camera had just decided to die and I ended up buying and fitting a new rear camera, however this still hasnt solved the issue.
In more detail whenever i click the camera app now (stock or third party) the virtual camera shutter will stay shut. Have tried restoring it twice, tried resetting all settings and tried keeping my fingers over the lens. When keeping fingers on the lens it does bypass the virtual shutter but the camera still doesnt function (no image displayed on screen). Third party flashlight apps also fail to make the flash work.
Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
UPDATE: Just rescraped off my bridge and the back camera is up and working again, so im assuimng that the bridge was the cause for the back camera not working :/
