I'm really hoping when Apple makes the new iPhone (if the leaked design is the official one), the black one is a shade like this:

I don't like how in the leaked photos, the back of the black one looks like a silver-ish/gray, and then the top and bottom are black. It just contrasts too much. The gunmetal with black in the one above looks much better. Anyone agree?

I agree. I much prefer the darker black shade as opposed to the silverish/gray look.

It seems to be two different shades even in the leaked photos; however, it's not as dark as some are hoping it'll be on the black version.

Depends on the angle. In this picture it looks light:

But in this one, it looks darker:

I like the darker shade as well. If its darker I think it will have a little bit of a wow factor when you first hold it

i really don't like the silver-ish matte back... bring back the fingerprint magnet mirror backing =P

I also like how the metal antenna band around the side is a blackish metal now. I will be getting the black one based on the leaked photos.

its the back of a phone....it's ok....does what a back of a phone should do. MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE :p

The only time any human should be this obsessed with something being a shade of black, is when their wife gives birth.

It could be the lighting. There are aftermarket wheels that can look silver or gunmetal depending on the lighting condition. The new iPhone could be the same way.

Or it could just be Apple experimenting with different materials or at least different colors of materials.
