13" MBP RAM upgrade = HD3000 VRAM upgrade?

Okay so there is a chance that I made this up in my brain but I swear I read some where that when you upgrade the ram in a 13" MBP from 4GB to 8GB, the HD3000 gets to use some of it, increasing your vram from 384MB to 512MB?

Is this true or is it complete bologna?

If its true, how much performance increase would it be going from 384 - 512 vram?

Yes. It does increase as you say. I don't think you'll see a big improvement. Intel HD 3000 is not a high performance graphics at all.
 
i'd do it anyways you benefit from it and plus 8gb is pretty cheap at $40 so you dont really have much to lose
 
you are going to notice and not its not your head. another thing get higher speeds like 1866mhz for the ram, it will improve the bandwidth that the gpu negotiate
 
I doubt it is gonna show any difference. If it was worth something cutting 512 out of 4GB would be happening too. It will help in some situations like visual quality, amount of open windows.
If you want more frames in games what you need is 1866Mhz ram. That gets you some extra fps depending on the game. The amount of ram hardly ever affects speed only quality.
