12 September - Why so serious?

No one knows. We're all guessing. All except the analysts, who are pulling random numbers from some body part not to be named on a "family" forum.
The leaks we've been seeing are filtered leaks from Apple.......Not all of them but a lot of them. Most likely somebody was told about the Sept 12 date and it filtered down. Probability says it would make sense to announce it then so that they could sell it in this quarter and have the sales in this quarter.
september 12th is the rumored ANNOUNCEMENT date, not the release date. Will find out in a couple weeks if thats true or not. But it has been rumored by several site with different sources, so it has more credence than a rumor started by one blog.
Ditto Fernandez21. Those are the same reports I have read. Not the release date, which was also reported to be towards the end of September but the announcement.

Whatever date the keynote and release dates are, I for one am enjoying the excitement thats slowly growing to fever pitch.

I'm just glad I can figure out if it's worth buying this thing or not with enough time to spare before vacation. Can't wait to see what the camera has to offer and what that two toned back is all about.
I think they will announce on the 12th. There have just been too many rumors and parts this time around that all sync with each other. Usually you have rumors so inconsistent that you really don't know what's happening, but this year has been the most precise batch of rumors/leaks for any product I've ever kept an eye on.

No one's saying the date is for sure because Apple hasn't said anything. It's just that 4 or 5 sites have come out and essentially confirmed it via their sources.
I feel the same way.. actually if it doesn't get at least announced during the first couple weeks of September I may not wait and just go with something else. My current phone, droid inc, is on it's last legs and can't go much longer.
