For those of you still pondering on whether to get a SSD:
MacBook Pro 2010. 2.66Ghz C2D.
Vertex 2 240GB SSD - Boot in approx 16 secs
MacBook Pro 2012. Specs in sig.
Samsung 830 256GB SSD - Boot in approx 14 secs
MacBook Pro 2012. Specs in sig.
Samsung 830 512GB SSD - Boot in precisely 11 secs!!!!
Im not sure why the 512GB Samsung is slightly faster then the 256GB though?? They are both the same model of SSD!! Maybe the 512GB has a newer firmware - I need to check!! BlackMagic Disk Speed test also gave me slightly higher results with the 512GB - only by a few Mb/s though.
Basically, I switch my system on, and get NO SPINNING TIMER WHATSOEVER! It goes through its initial hardware check, and then straight to the desktop screen - I was surprised to see no spinning timer at all, not even half a turn or anything!
