So I just had a mini panic attack cos my MBP was running loudly and there was an x through the battery and the power cord light wasn't on.

I has just put in my external monitor when my MBP suddenly turned itself off (without power cord in but it was charged 100% cos I just took it off moments earlier).

Had a quick search using my iPad and came across this solution:
http://nathanbullock-tech.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/no-batteries-available-macbook-pro.html

Now it worked perfect so my MBP is running normal again.

But I'd like to know from you guys what the heck happened? My MBP isn't even a year old. Is there something wrong with my battery!? Should I get it checked out? I'm worried it will happen again soon, or something worse.

Just to add, I got 3 year warranty free when bought with my student discount so I haven't actually bought AppleCare it just came with it.

Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like a great opportunity to take advantage of Apple Care. Call them at 1 800 SOS APPLE or make an appointment with your local genius bar if possible.
