Would it be a good idea to buy an iPad now?

I sold my iPad 2 two months ago after the school year ended since I needed the cash. I'm about to start in a couple weeks & thinking about buying the new iPad since I liked having all my notes & readings synced through all my devices.

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to buy now? Or wait the 6-7 months since people have been talking about a new dock connector.

And I'm not interested in the iPad mini. I tried the Nexus 7 for 2 weeks. And the screen was too small for me to work with.

I think the best guess is that the iPad event might be in october now, I would be inclined to wait till then.

You can always buy one and keep it nice then return it if it gets updated.
 
Wait for the iPad event on September 12 or in October. Older rumors suggest there might be iPad with new dock connector. A recent rumor suggests there may be other improvements too, such as a more power efficient screen.
 
If you aren't interested in the iPad mini buy one today!

the new iPad as it's known as is fantastic, don't regret getting mine one bit!

I personally don't believe the rumors that they are going to update it as well this quarter! We got all those 'they are going to release the iPad 3 this year (2011)' last year so I wouldn't be phased by it.
 
If you think you will be mad if you miss out on the new iPad coming 2013 probably, then I would wait.
I have the newest iPad, and I don't think I would really care about it going faster, or the battery lasting longer, or a new port, so I am pretty set until the iPad 5 probably.
either way, it's an awesome product.:apple:

Don't rule out the iPad mini so quickly. First of all it's going to be closer to 8" than 7" like the nexus 7. Secondly the Android OS wastes a lot of screen real estate with those ludicrous on screen navigation buttons. IMO the experience will be vastly superior on the iPad mini compared to the Nexus 7.
 
If you want it now, buy it now. If you don't want it now, wait.

Personally I plan my purchases well in advance so I can budget for them. Never immediately after a product announcement, but 3-6 months post-release.
 
Buy now. The current models are excellent, I have iPads 2 & 3.

No bugs, no problems, no reason to wait.

Avoid crowds & the madness of release dates.

Buy now, you'll be so glad you did.

Smart, very smart.

If more people followed your method, they'd read about the little bugs & annoyances that are normal with any revised model.

In turn they'd make decisions that suit then well.
 
Thanks for the input guys. Just came home with a new 16gb. Pretty excited!

I wanted the current iPad because of the rumor that they're changing the connector. I want an iPad that charges using the millions of iphone and ipod plugs already out there (including the 7-8 that I have). It so easy now to find someone with a charging plug if you forget yours on a trip or need a quick charge at someone else's house.
It'll take years for the new connector to become as universally available everywhere you go.

Give china a week we will be flooded with them.

Or get an adapter and use all those millions of plugs already out there.:cool:
