Canon supplies photography software utilities with their cameras.
There is software is for Windows and for Macs. I've installed the
Zoom Browser software for the Mac. It comes up and looks normal.
Then I try and access the camera to download images and I get a gui
that tells me that Zoom Browser has quit unexpectedly. Tried several times but no luck.

Was wondering if anyone out there has had similar problems under
OS X 10.8?

Canon has said that the EOS Utility (the Utility supplied to connect your Canon camera to your computer and run it remotely) will *not* work with OS X 10.8

They have said though that a new version will be released "in October 2012" that will be Mountain Lion-compatible.

I would suspect that this may also apply to Zoom Browser.

(For what it's worth - I don't use ZB, but do use Digital Photo Professional, and that works under 10.8 but EOS Utility certainly doesn't. I'm resigned to waiting a few weeks for an update from Canon!)
