Why my iphone map does not have satellite positioning?

What issue are you experiencing, specifically?

If you want GPS satellite positioning of your current position, hit the button in the bottom left that looks somewhat like an arrow.

there is no signal, so I can not use the GPS

As far as I know the GPS on the iPhone will not work unless the phone is receiving a cellular signal.

google maps won't work without a cell signal, you will need something like tomtom or navigon which has the maps locally. used it just fine on vacation where i had no cell signal

Actually your GPS is working fine, you just can't load map data since you're not connected to the internet. If you want to do this you need to purchase TomTom or other map app from the iTS.

The built in Map App will also work if you have access to WiFi and the WiFi is connected to the internet. This is the case even if you have no cell phone carrier signal. I have an old iPhone 3g with no cell service on it that I basically use as an iPod Touch and I am able to use the Map App to find my current location and also to search for other locations and get directions.

Download "iDemonstrate" from the iTunes Store (Free) and test your GPS...simples!
There are other apps of course, I just know of this one as I've used it
