Hi,
I decided to take my iPhone 4S for a swim a week ago today. The phone was submerged for 5 minutes or so before I realized what I had done. When I took the phone out of my pocket the phone had a black screen with some lettering, similar to a 'blue screen of death' that you would get on a PC. The screen went away and the phone got really really hot. I figured this was the battery shorting out. After letting the phone aerate for several days, I replaced the battery today. The phone will not turn on. The flash stays dimly lit but nothing else happens. The phone does get warm from the flash draining the battery, maybe a little warmer than it should but who knows. Does my phone have any hope? What should my next step be? I am deciding between further taking the phone apart to try to get rid of all the corrosion byproduct by brushing with rubbing alcohol.
Or, I may sell my phone on ebay as they are fetching a good price but I am afraid someone will get the phone working and have access to all of my information (ie contacts, emails, pictures (nothing dirty)). Any thoughts on getting the information off of my phone when the phone will not turn on and it not recognized when plugged into a computer?
