iPhone 5 Warning about LTE compatibility

I live in France and I will be headed back to the US next year so I wanted to get the iphone 5 here since it's sold unlocked. However there is a warning that the phones purchased here may not work with some LTE networks in other countries.

How much do I have to worry about that for the US networks?

A quick response would be appreciated since I am trying to pull the trigger today :D
 
It's possible the iPhone bought in France would only work with AT&T or TMobile in the US, not Sprint or Verizon.

There are technically 3 models of the iPhone 5. 1 for just AT&T LTE in the US. 1 for VERIZON & SPRINT LTE + WORLDWIDE GSM, and 1 for WORLD WIDE LTE. The only one being sold here unlocked is the 1st one. If you do buy it, there won't be any chance of you using it on LTE in France. Everything else including 3G will work though. This looks to be a software limitation.
