Maybe I'm paranoid maybe not...

Guy has offered me their new 4S for my S3 (Yes 4S might have been out for awhile but I want one and it would make me happy lol).

They have produced this serial DQGJ9CG7DTD2. On apple's site it says not yet activated which for me rings alarm bells.

Trading a completely unused phone? Firstly it could be stolen from a shop or they could have taken out a contract, not used it yet then will claim its lost.

Any thoughts...anyone else experienced similar?

If you have bells going off, listen to them. Don't try too hard to override warnings with justifications if you want to avoid risk. I don't have an article to cite, but I do recall reading that carriers were beginning to blacklist stolen phones in the US, and have been doing so elsewhere for much longer. If it were me I'd pass.
